Description
The tour begins at Bilbao’s Abando de Indalecio Prieto station, where you will see a large stained glass window and learn its significance. You will also view one of the city’s earliest coats of arms. The guide will explain the founding of Bilbao and read the original charter.
As you enter the Old Town, you will visit the Arriaga Theater and hear about Bilbao's historical connections with surrounding municipalities. The tour includes a visit to one of the oldest bars in the Old Town and its link to the last Carlist War in Bilbao.
You will see the Cathedral of Santiago, with detailed explanations of its three façades, and learn about notable historical figures from the Spanish Empire who lived in the city. The route also covers a philosopher and writer present at Bilbao’s founding. The tour ends with visits to the bridge, the Church of San Antón, and Mercado de la Ribera.
