Description
Gartziategi, located in Gipuzkoa’s cider region of Astigarraga, is one of the oldest active cider houses in the Basque Country. Surrounded by its own apple orchards and set above the Urumea valley, it offers an authentic insight into traditional Basque cider production.
During the guided tour, you will walk through the orchards and learn how local apples are transformed into natural Basque cider. Inside the cellar, you will see both historic equipment and modern production facilities, including a century-old apple press.
The tour highlights the traditional use of water and the land’s slope to wash and move apples through the production process, emphasizing the close link between cider making and the natural environment.
