Description

The sightseeing tour will start at Peine del Viento and end at Paseo de La Concha. It will be a flat walk of about 2–3 km and will last 2 hours. Along the way, a geology expert will provide explanations about the city's geological past, including the origin of the flysch-type rocks that make up the city and the moment of the meteorite impact that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. Evidence of this event can be found in the Flysch of Donostia, between La Concha and Ondarreta beaches. In addition to the geological past, the talk will also cover geological curiosities about San Sebastián's architecture, including the origin and characteristics of the sandstone that makes up the 19th-century palaces and stately buildings, such as the Town Hall and the Hotel María Cristina.
