Description
Begin the tour at Plaza del Funicular and board the iconic cable car to the Mount Artxanda viewpoint. From this vantage point, observe panoramic views of Bilbao’s estuary, the Guggenheim Museum, New San Mamés Stadium, Iberdrola Tower, and other notable landmarks.
After a short introduction to the city’s architecture and history from the viewpoint, return via funicular to the city and walk along one bank of the estuary toward the Town Hall, entering either the historic Old Town or the Ensanche district.
Tour Options by Day
- Saturday to Monday: Tour Bilbao’s Old Town, tracing the city’s origins and iconic buildings. Walk through the oldest streets to Plaza Nueva, admire emblematic churches, and explore the famous Seven Streets (Siete Calles). The tour ends at Mercado de la Ribera, where you can sample traditional Basque foods.
- Tuesday to Friday: Cross the Zubi Zuri footbridge designed by Santiago Calatrava to reach the Ensanche district. Visit key city center sights such as the Ibai Gane Palace (Athletic Bilbao headquarters), Biscay Provincial Council, Gran Vía de Don Diego López de Haro, and Moyúa Square.
